TradingView alternative for forex: free XAUUSD and EURUSD charts

A TradingView alternative for forex and gold: free XAUUSD and EURUSD charts with indicators, Pine-compatible scripts, a forex screener and cross rates.

If you want free forex charts with indicators in the browser, SuperCharting charts gold, silver and the major and cross currency pairs, with the indicator library, Pine-compatible scripts, the Strategy Tester, second and tick intervals, alerts to Telegram or a webhook, a forex screener and a cross-rates matrix. It is currently free to use. It is a charting and research tool: it does not place forex or gold orders with any broker.

TradingView is a trademark of TradingView, Inc.; SuperCharting is not affiliated with it.

Which pairs and metals you can chart, and where prices come from

Type the symbol in symbol search (Ctrl + K): XAUUSD and XAGUSD for gold and silver, the seven majors (EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, AUDUSD, USDCAD, NZDUSD), crosses such as EURJPY and GBPJPY, plus index CFDs and BTCUSD where the feed lists them. The default watchlist already opens with a FOREX & METALS section holding XAUUSD, EURUSD and BTCUSD.

Prices for these symbols come from a broker MT5 gateway that the site runs. It is read-only: the feed only receives prices and never sends an order. When that feed does not list a symbol or does not answer, the chart is served from public market data instead, and names such as FX_IDC:EURUSD open from that public data too. The header's Data type button names the exchange and feed behind the chart you are looking at.

What this means in practice:

Symbols, sessions and intervals are covered in detail in the forex and gold charts guide.

Tools a forex or gold trader will use

Intervals. Every interval works, plus custom ones such as 45m. The MT5 gateway serves 1 minute to daily history; other intervals are built from it. Second and tick charts (1 to 59 seconds, 1 to 1000 ticks) are built from the live quotes the site receives, so they fill from the moment you open them.

Sessions. The Trading sessions indicator shades Tokyo, London and New York in their own time zones, so daylight saving is handled.

Scripts and backtests. Pine-compatible indicators and strategies run on forex charts the same way as on stocks, and the Strategy Tester reports key stats, performance and the list of trades. One limit matters for currency traders: request.security only works on a higher timeframe of the chart's own symbol, so a script that reads a second symbol, such as a dollar index filter on EURUSD, will not run as written.

Alerts. Price alerts (crossing, greater or less than, moving up or down by a percentage) and script alerts can notify you in the app, by Telegram with a chart picture, or by a webhook to your own system. Every account currently gets 1,000 price alerts and 1,000 technical alerts, and alerts do not expire.

Practice. The Trade button opens paper trading: a simulated account with no real money, filled at the live bid and ask.

The forex screener and the cross-rates matrix

Both views use public market data, refreshed about once a minute, not the MT5 feed. Gold and silver are not in the currency matrix; chart them directly.

How to set up a forex workspace in SuperCharting

  1. Press Ctrl + K, type eurusd and press Enter, then choose 1 hour from the interval button.
  2. Press / to open Indicators and add Trading sessions.
  3. Open Products > Heatmaps > Cross rates, set the period chip to 1W, and note which currency is strongest across its row.
  4. Open Screeners, switch the market chip to Forex, set Group to Majors, and click a pair to load it.
  5. Press Ctrl + E to open the Script Editor, paste the strategy below and click Add to chart. The Strategy Tester opens under the chart.
  6. Press Alert (or Alt + A) to set a level alert, and pick Telegram or a webhook in the Notifications row.
  7. Save the layout with Ctrl + S. Layouts are kept with your account.

Worked example: an EMA cross on EURUSD, 1 hour

This short strategy goes long when the 20 EMA crosses above the 50 EMA, short on the opposite cross, with a stop 1.5 ATR from the entry. It compiles in the Script Editor:

//@version=6
strategy("FX EMA cross", overlay = true, initial_capital = 10000, commission_type = strategy.commission.percent, commission_value = 0.002)
fastLen = input.int(20, "Fast EMA")
slowLen = input.int(50, "Slow EMA")
atrMult = input.float(1.5, "Stop (ATR)")
fast = ta.ema(close, fastLen)
slow = ta.ema(close, slowLen)
atr = ta.atr(14)
if ta.crossover(fast, slow)
    strategy.entry("Long", strategy.long)
if ta.crossunder(fast, slow)
    strategy.entry("Short", strategy.short)
strategy.exit("Stop L", "Long", stop = strategy.position_avg_price - atrMult * atr)
strategy.exit("Stop S", "Short", stop = strategy.position_avg_price + atrMult * atr)
plot(fast, "Fast", color.teal)
plot(slow, "Slow", color.orange)

Run it on EURUSD 1 hour, then switch the same chart to XAUUSD 15 minutes and compare Max drawdown and Profit factor in the report. Gold moves much further per bar than EURUSD, so the ATR stop adapts, but the commission figure (0.002% of trade value here) should match what your broker actually charges in spread and fees. Past results do not guarantee future results, and this example is for learning, not a trading signal.

How it compares with MT5 charts and TradingView

MT5 is your broker's trading terminal: charts next to order entry, plus indicators and Expert Advisors written in MQL5. SuperCharting cannot place forex orders or run MQL5 code; you analyse, script, backtest, scan and get alerts here, and trade in your broker's platform.

TradingView offers forex charts from many data providers, Pine Script, screeners and alerts, and its paid plans raise limits such as charts per tab and the number of alerts. SuperCharting's Premium-level limits (16 charts per tab, 1,000 price alerts, second and tick charts, alerts that do not expire) currently apply to every free account. TradingView has a far larger symbol list, a large public script library, and Pine Script features SuperCharting's engine does not support, such as reading other symbols.

Frequently asked questions

Is the XAUUSD chart free?

Yes. SuperCharting is currently free to use, and XAUUSD charts, indicators, scripts and alerts need no paid plan.

Can I trade forex from SuperCharting?

No. There is no forex or gold order placement. Use paper trading to practise and your broker's platform for real orders.

Which broker's prices does the chart show?

A broker MT5 feed run by the site, with public market data as the fallback. The Data type button shows which one serves your chart.

Does the forex screener include gold?

The screener lists currency pairs. Chart XAUUSD and XAGUSD directly, or add them to a watchlist.

Can I use my MT5 indicators?

No, MQL5 indicators and Expert Advisors do not run here. Pine-compatible scripts do, and many common indicators are already in the library.
