Forex and gold charts: XAUUSD, EURUSD and major pairs in the browser
Chart XAUUSD, EURUSD and other forex pairs in SuperCharting: where the data comes from, trading sessions, second and tick charts, and alerts on gold.
SuperCharting charts forex pairs, gold, silver and index CFDs alongside Indian markets: type XAUUSD or EURUSD and the chart loads with live quotes when the market is open and the feed allows. Forex and CFD prices come from a broker MT5 feed the site runs, with public market data as a fallback, and the same charts support second and tick intervals, session overlays, alerts and paper trading.
Symbols and where the prices come from
Type the pair name in symbol search (Ctrl + K or start typing on the chart):
- Gold and silver: XAUUSD, XAGUSD.
- Majors: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, AUDUSD, USDCAD, NZDUSD.
- Crosses such as EURJPY or GBPJPY, and index CFDs where the broker feed lists them.
- Crypto: BTCUSD.
When you type eurusd, the plain forex pair is listed first, before any Indian currency future with a similar name (NSE:EURUSD1!), so Enter opens the spot pair.
Forex and CFD symbols come from the broker feeds the site is connected to: an MT5 broker gateway for forex, metals, index CFDs and crypto, and an MT5 terminal shown under the VANTAGE exchange name. If those do not list a symbol or do not answer, the chart is served from public market data. The header's Data type button shows the exchange and the feed serving the current chart, so you always know the source.
Broker feeds differ slightly from each other in price, especially for gold and at quiet hours, because each broker quotes its own bid and ask. Use one source consistently for levels you rely on.
Sessions and market hours
Forex trades around the clock from Monday to Friday. The chart legend shows the market as open on weekdays and closed on Saturday and Sunday (by UTC date); the status is a simple weekday rule, so the exact Sunday-evening open and Friday close follow your broker feed's quotes rather than the status dot.
To see the trading sessions on the chart, add the Trading sessions indicator from the Indicators dialog. By default it shades three sessions with their names, open and close lines, range and average price:
| Session | Default hours | Time zone |
|---|---|---|
| Tokyo | 09:00 to 15:00 | Asia/Tokyo |
| London | 08:30 to 16:30 | Europe/London |
| New York | 09:30 to 16:00 | America/New_York |
You can change each session's name, hours, time zone and colour in the indicator's settings, for example set New York to 08:00 to 17:00 to cover the full forex day there. Because the hours are tied to city time zones, daylight-saving changes are handled for you.
Also useful on forex charts:
- Session breaks (on the time axis right-click menu, or in Chart settings) draws a dashed line at each new day.
- Time zone on the same menu sets the clock of the time axis, so you can read London or New York times directly.
Intervals: from ticks to months
Forex charts accept every interval in the interval menu and any custom timeframe such as 45m or 2h. For scalping, second and tick charts such as 5 seconds or 100 ticks are built from the live quotes the site receives, so they start filling from the moment you open them. The broker gateway serves 1, 5, 15 and 30-minute, 1-hour, 4-hour and daily history; other intervals such as 3 minutes, 2 hours, weekly and monthly are built from those.
How to set up a gold chart in SuperCharting
- Press Ctrl + K, type
xauusdand press Enter. - Choose 15 minutes from the interval button.
- Press / to open Indicators and add Trading sessions, then VWAP or an EMA.
- Right-click the chart at a level, for example 4,150, and choose Add alert on XAUUSD at 4,150.000…. Set Crossing, trigger Once per bar, and tick Telegram in Notifications if you want the alert on your phone; see Telegram alerts.
- Open a layout with two charts, load EURUSD on 1 hour in the second, and save the layout with Ctrl + S.
A percentage alert on gold
Gold can move fast around news. A Moving Up % or Moving Down % alert of 0.5 on XAUUSD tells you when it has travelled half a percent from where the alert started measuring, without choosing a level. See price alerts for how the reference price works.
Practise without risk
Open the Trade button in the header to use paper trading on XAUUSD or EURUSD: a simulated account with no real money, filled at the live bid and ask. It is a good way to test position sizes and stop distances on gold before you use any real account elsewhere.
For context on rates behind currency moves, the bond screener compares government yields across countries, such as the US and German 10-year.
Charts, alerts and practice trades are for learning and planning. They are not trading advice, and leveraged products such as CFDs carry a high risk of loss.
Frequently asked questions
Is XAUUSD live on SuperCharting?
Yes, while the market is open and the broker feed is sending quotes. On weekends the chart shows the last bars of Friday.
Why is my gold price slightly different from my broker's?
Each broker quotes its own price. SuperCharting shows the price of the feed named in the Data type menu, which can differ from another broker by a few cents or more.
Can I see London and New York sessions on the chart?
Yes. Add the Trading sessions indicator; it shades Tokyo, London and New York by default, and you can change their hours and colours.
Do second charts work on forex?
Yes. Second and tick intervals are built from live quotes, so they fill while the market is open and the chart is loaded.
Can I chart USDINR?
Search for USDINR: rupee currency futures, where the Indian feed lists them, are charted like other Indian futures. The Data type menu shows which feed serves the chart.
