NSE charts: Nifty, Bank Nifty, futures and Indian stocks online
Chart NSE:NIFTY, NSE:BANKNIFTY, continuous futures like NIFTY1! and Indian stocks in SuperCharting, with exchange hours, data sources and the symbols to type.
SuperCharting charts the Indian markets in the browser: indices such as NSE:NIFTY and NSE:BANKNIFTY, every NSE and BSE stock, index and stock futures including continuous contracts like NSE:NIFTY1!, options, and MCX commodities. Indian prices come from the site's Angel One feed, are live while the exchange is open and the feed allows, and use TradingView-style symbol names so layouts and scripts carry over.
Symbols to type
Open symbol search with Ctrl + K (or just start typing on the chart) and enter any of these:
| What | Symbol | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nifty 50 | NSE:NIFTY | the index |
| Nifty Bank | NSE:BANKNIFTY | the index |
| Nifty Financial Services | NSE:CNXFINANCE | Fin Nifty |
| Nifty Midcap Select | NSE:NIFTY_MID_SELECT | Midcap Nifty |
| Nifty Next 50 | NSE:NIFTYJR | |
| India VIX | NSE:INDIAVIX | volatility index |
| Sensex, Bankex | BSE:SENSEX, BSE:BANKEX | BSE indices |
| Sector indices | NSE:CNXIT, NSE:CNXAUTO, NSE:CNXPHARMA, NSE:CNXMETAL … | |
| A stock | NSE:RELIANCE, BSE:RELIANCE | cash market |
| Front-month future | NSE:NIFTY1!, NSE:BANKNIFTY1! | continuous |
| Next-month future | NSE:NIFTY2! | continuous |
| A dated future | NSE:NIFTYX2026 | root, month code, year (X = November) |
| An option | NSE:NIFTY261124C24500 | root, YYMMDD expiry, C or P, strike |
| Commodity future | MCX:GOLD1!, MCX:CRUDEOIL1! | MCX |
You rarely need to type an option symbol by hand: the options chain lists every strike and opens the contract for you.
Continuous futures: NIFTY1! and NIFTY2!
NIFTY1! always stands for the nearest futures contract that has not yet expired, and NIFTY2! for the one after it. When the front contract expires, NIFTY1! moves on to the next month by itself, so a layout saved with NSE:NIFTY1! keeps showing the current front month without you changing anything. The same works for stock futures and MCX contracts, for example NSE:RELIANCE1! and MCX:GOLD1!.
On the Angel One feed the chart shows the bars of the contract NIFTY1! points to at that moment. It is not a back-adjusted series stitched over several expiries, so very long intraday history on a continuous future is limited to the life of the current contract. For long-term studies use the index, NSE:NIFTY.
Exchange hours and the market status
The legend shows a green dot while the market is open and a grey pill when it is closed. For Indian exchanges SuperCharting uses Indian Standard Time:
- NSE and BSE cash, index and F&O: Monday to Friday, 09:15 to 15:30.
- MCX commodities: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 23:55.
- Currency derivatives: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
The status follows these clock hours; exchange holidays and special sessions are not marked separately. Live candles are built only inside exchange hours. The chart's time axis menu has Session breaks, which draws a dashed line at each new session on intraday charts, and Time zone, if you prefer to read times in another zone.
Timeframes and data
The Angel One feed delivers 1, 3, 5, 15 and 30-minute, 1-hour and daily history, and SuperCharting builds other intervals from them, such as 2 hours or weekly bars. You can also type any custom timeframe such as 45m or 2D, and build second and tick charts from the live quotes. The depth of intraday history depends on the feed: one-minute history reaches back about a month per request, higher timeframes much further, and older bars load as you scroll left.
If the Angel One feed is busy or does not answer, the chart is served from fallback public sources, with daily history from the exchange's own website as the last resort. The Data type menu on the symbol in the header shows which exchange and feed are serving the chart. Quotes from some fallback sources can be delayed, which is another reason to check the source before relying on a level.
How to chart Nifty and Bank Nifty in SuperCharting
- Press Ctrl + K, type
niftyand choose NIFTY on NSE (the index, not a future). - Pick an interval from the interval button in the header, for example 5 minutes.
- Open the layout button and choose a two-chart layout. Click the second chart and load NSE:BANKNIFTY.
- In the layout menu under Sync in layout, leave Symbol unticked and tick Interval, so both charts change timeframe together but keep their own symbols. See multi-chart layouts.
- Add VWAP or Supertrend from the Indicators dialog (press /).
- Right-click at a level, such as 24,800 on Nifty, and choose Add alert on NIFTY at 24,800.00… to be told when it is crossed.
- Press Ctrl + S to save the layout to your account.
A practical routine: Nifty and Bank Nifty on 5 minutes in a two-chart layout, NSE:NIFTY1! on 15 minutes in a third chart to watch the futures premium over the index, and India VIX on daily in the fourth.
Indian stocks beyond the chart
For a stock such as NSE:TCS, the watchlist's Metrics button and a click in the stock screener open the company page with ratios, quarterly results and peers; see Indian stocks fundamentals. Prices on charts, the watchlist and alerts are shown in INR for NSE, BSE and MCX symbols.
Charts are for analysis and study. Nothing on SuperCharting is a recommendation to buy or sell.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between NSE:NIFTY and NSE:NIFTY1!?
NSE:NIFTY is the index. NSE:NIFTY1! is the nearest Nifty futures contract, which trades at a premium or discount to the index and rolls to the next month after expiry.
Is Nifty data live?
It is live while NSE is open and the feed allows. Outside 09:15 to 15:30 IST on weekdays the chart shows the last session's bars and no new candles are built.
Can I see Bank Nifty options?
Yes. With NSE:BANKNIFTY on the chart open Products > Options to see its chain by expiry and strike, and click a contract to chart it.
Why does a holiday show the market as open?
The status follows the regular clock hours and does not know exchange holidays. No quotes arrive on a holiday, so nothing changes on the chart.
Can I use my own broker for Indian data?
You can save Zerodha, Angel One and other connections on the broker connections page. A saved connection does not feed your charts yet; that is being rolled out broker by broker.
