Indian stocks fundamentals: ratios, quarterly results and peers

The SuperCharting company page shows Indian stocks fundamentals: key ratios, quarterly results, profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, peers and NSE filings.

SuperCharting has a company page for every stock in the screener, laid out in the manner of screener.in: key ratios at the top, then earnings and growth, quarterly results, profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and a peer comparison. For NSE stocks it adds the shareholding pattern, corporate actions, board meetings, announcements and annual reports from the exchange. Amounts for Indian companies are in rupees crores. A click on a screener row also loads the stock's chart; see NSE charts for the symbols and data behind it.

Opening a company page

There are two ways in:

The page opens with ← Back to results at the top, the company name, its symbol, sector and industry, and the current price with the day's change.

How to read a company's fundamentals in SuperCharting

  1. Open Screeners on the right-hand widget bar and set the market chip to India.
  2. Click the Symbol header, type TCS in the search box and click the TCS row.
  3. Read Key ratios for valuation and quality at a glance: P/E, ROCE, ROE, debt to equity.
  4. Scroll to Quarterly results and compare sales and net profit with the same quarter a year earlier.
  5. Check Peer comparison to see how the ratios stand against companies in the same industry, and click a peer to open its page.
  6. For NSE stocks, scroll to Shareholding pattern and Announcements for promoter holding changes and recent filings.
  7. Press ← Back to results to return to the screener table.

What the page shows

Key ratios

Market cap (in ₹ crore for Indian companies), current price, 52-week high and low, stock P/E, book value, dividend yield, ROCE, ROE, ROA, price to book, EPS (TTM), debt to equity, PEG, EV / EBITDA, price to sales, operating and net profit margins (OPM, NPM), current ratio, interest coverage, Piotroski score, Graham number, free float, number of shareholders and beta over one year.

Earnings and growth

Quarterly results and profit and loss

Two tables with one column per period, oldest on the left. The quarterly table lists sales, sales growth year on year, gross profit, EBITDA, EBITDA margin, net profit, net profit growth and diluted EPS. The yearly profit and loss adds net margin and dividend per share. Up to 32 quarters and 20 years are shown when the data feed has that much history; younger companies show fewer columns.

Balance sheet and cash flow

For the latest year: total and current assets, cash and investments, goodwill; total and current liabilities, long and short-term debt; total equity, total debt, net debt and debt to equity. A yearly table follows total assets and total debt. Cash flow shows cash from operations, investing and financing, capital expenditure, free cash flow, dividends paid and the payout ratio, with yearly free cash flow and capex.

Peer comparison

The ten largest companies in the same industry, with price, P/E, market cap, dividend yield, net profit and its growth, sales and its growth, ROCE and ROE. The company you opened is shown in bold. Click any row to open that peer's page.

NSE filings

For stocks with an NSE symbol the page also reads the exchange's public filings:

Each part is shown when the exchange answers it; if the exchange site is slow, that part says filings are not available right now. Filings are kept for a few hours before they are fetched again.

Units and data sources

What the page does not have: the full line-by-line statements as filed, segment results, a breakdown of FII and DII holdings, concall transcripts and credit ratings. For those, use the annual report and announcement links, or the company's own investor pages.

Using fundamentals with charts

A common routine is to screen, read, then chart:

  1. Run a query such as ROCE > 20 AND Debt to equity < 0.3 AND Market cap > 2000 in the stock screener.
  2. Open the company pages of the results and drop the ones whose quarterly results are uneven.
  3. Add the rest to a watchlist, then study their charts and set alerts at your levels with a watchlist alert or a single price alert.

The chart's right-click menu also offers Add financial metric for …, which opens the Financials section of the Indicators dialog so you can plot a metric under the price.

Fundamentals describe the past and estimates can be wrong. This page is for research and is not investment advice.
