Options chain: browse expiries and strikes, chart any contract
Use the SuperCharting options chain to pick an expiry and strike for NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, stocks or MCX contracts and open that option's chart in one click.
The options chain in SuperCharting is a quick way to find and chart an option contract. It lists every expiry of an underlying such as NSE:NIFTY or NSE:BANKNIFTY, shows the calls and puts for each strike around the live spot price, and opens the contract you click on the chart. It is a chart picker, not a full trading chain: premiums, open interest and Greeks are not shown in the chain itself.
What the chain shows
The chain is a page of the symbol search dialog, titled after the underlying, for example NIFTY Options. From top to bottom:
- The expiry strip. Expiries are grouped by month (Oct, Nov, Dec, with the year added when it changes) and each expiry is a day button. The nearest expiry is selected when the chain opens; arrows at either end scroll through later months.
- The table with three columns: Calls, Strike and Puts. Each row is one strike, with "Call 24500" on the left and "Put 24500" on the right.
- The spot line. A line with a badge such as "NIFTY 24,612.35" sits between the strikes either side of the current price, and the chain scrolls so that line is in the middle when it opens.
- In-the-money shading. Calls with a strike below spot and puts with a strike above spot are shaded, so the in-the-money side is visible at a glance.
The spot badge updates while the dialog is open, as quotes arrive for the underlying. Click the Strike header to flip the order between ascending and descending.
Only expiries from today onwards are listed. When you open the chain from a chart that already shows an option, the chain opens on that option's expiry with its row highlighted, so switching to the next strike is one click.
Which underlyings have a chain
Chains come from the instrument list of the site's Indian broker feed, so they cover the contracts listed on NSE F&O, BSE F&O and MCX:
- index options such as NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY (NSE:CNXFINANCE) and SENSEX,
- options on F&O stocks such as NSE:RELIANCE or NSE:HDFCBANK,
- MCX options where the exchange lists them.
Forex pairs, gold CFDs and crypto have no chain. If the active symbol has no options, a toast says "No option chain for …: pick an underlying", and the dialog opens on its Options filter so you can search for one.
How to open an option chart in SuperCharting
- Load the underlying on the active chart, for example NSE:BANKNIFTY.
- Open the Products menu on the right-hand widget bar and choose Options. (In symbol search you can also click the Options chip, search for an underlying and click it.)
- The chain opens on the nearest expiry. Click another day in the expiry strip if you want a later expiry.
- Scroll to the strike you want. The spot line shows where the index is trading.
- Click Call 52000 (or the put). The dialog closes and the active chart switches to that contract, for example NSE:BANKNIFTY261125C52000.
- Choose an interval such as 5 minutes and add the indicators you use. VWAP and volume are common choices on option charts.
To watch the call and the put of a straddle together, open a two-chart layout, load the call in one chart and the put in the other.
Reading the option symbol
Option symbols follow the TradingView format: root, expiry as YYMMDD, C or P, strike. NSE:NIFTY261124P24000 is the Nifty 24,000 put expiring on 24 November 2026. The chart legend shows the full description, such as "NIFTY 24 NOV 2026 PUT 24000".
What you can do with an option chart
Once the contract is on the chart it behaves like any other symbol:
- Indicators and scripts run on the option's own bars.
- Price alerts: right-click at a premium level and choose Add alert on … at …, for example an alert when a call's premium crosses 250. See price alerts.
- Paper trading: practise an option trade on the paper trading account with no real money. Quantities are in lots, and the ticket shows the lot size.
- Layouts: save the option chart in a layout with the underlying beside it; see multi-chart layouts.
Option charts are live while the exchange is open and the feed allows. Contracts far from the money may trade rarely, so their charts can have gaps or few bars, and a newly listed expiry has little history.
Limits of the chain
Be clear about what this view is for:
- It does not show premiums (last traded price), bid and ask, volume, open interest or change in open interest for each strike.
- It does not compute implied volatility or Greeks.
- There is no strategy builder, payoff diagram or margin calculator.
For open-interest analysis, chart the individual contracts, or use the Order Block board on the widget bar, which ranks NSE futures by price move and position build-up. Nothing in the chain or on an option chart is a recommendation to trade.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open the Nifty option chain?
Load NSE:NIFTY on the chart and choose Products > Options on the right-hand widget bar. The chain opens on the nearest expiry with the spot line in the middle.
Does the chain show open interest or Greeks?
No. It lists the contracts by expiry and strike so you can chart them; premiums, open interest and Greeks are not shown in the chain.
Why do I see "No option chain" for my symbol?
The symbol has no listed options, for example a forex pair or a stock outside F&O. Pick an underlying from the Options filter instead.
Can I see the chain for weekly expiries?
Yes. Every listed expiry from today onwards appears in the expiry strip, weekly and monthly alike.
How do I go back from an option to its chain?
With an option on the chart, open Products > Options again. The chain opens on that option's expiry with its row highlighted.
