Community scripts library: find, use and publish trading scripts
The SuperCharting community scripts library: browse, boost and add published indicators and strategies, and publish your own as open, protected or invite-only.
The community scripts library is where SuperCharting users publish indicators and strategies for others to use. You can browse it in the app or on the public scripts pages, add any script to your chart with one click, and publish your own from the Script Editor with the code open to everyone, hidden, or shared only with people you invite.
The library is younger and smaller than the community of a large platform, so expect a focused selection rather than tens of thousands of scripts. Every script in it compiled in SuperCharting's engine when it was published.
Where to find community scripts
There are three ways in, all showing the same library:
- Indicators dialog. Click Indicators on the chart's top toolbar. The left column has the community sections Editors' picks, Top and Trending, plus Invite-only for scripts other users have shared with you.
- Community panel. The Community button in the right-hand bar opens a side panel with two tabs: Scripts (Editors' picks, Top, Trending and New) and My publications. A search box filters by title.
- Public pages. supercharting.com/scripts lists published scripts for anyone, signed in or not, and each script has its own page with its description, picture and, for open-source scripts, the code.
Top ranks by boosts and chart uses, Trending by chart uses over the last seven days plus boosts, and New by the latest update. Editors' picks are chosen by hand.
How to use a community script in SuperCharting
- Open the chart you want, for example NSE:BANKNIFTY on 5 minutes.
- Open the Community panel (or the Indicators dialog) and find a script, for instance by typing "volume" in the search box.
- Click Add to chart. The script runs on your chart with its default settings, next to the built-in indicators you already use.
- Change its settings from its name in the chart legend, like any indicator.
- Click Boost on a script you find useful; click again to remove your boost. Open page opens the script's public page in a new tab.
For an open-source script, right-click its name in the legend and choose Source code… to load the code into your Script Editor, where you can study it or save your own copy. For a protected or invite-only script the code stays with its author: it runs on your chart, but it is never sent to your browser.
Open source, protected and invite-only
When you publish, you choose two things: privacy and visibility.
| Choice | Who can find it | Who sees the code |
|---|---|---|
| Public + Open | Everyone, in the library and on /scripts | Everyone |
| Public + Protected | Everyone | Only the author |
| Invite-only | Only the author and the invited accounts | Only the author |
| Private | Only you | Only you |
Private is a safe way to publish a draft for yourself first: today a private script is shown only to its author, even if someone else has its link. Open source is the norm for learning and for trust: other traders can check what a script really does. Protected suits code you want to share as a tool without giving away. Invite-only is for a private group, such as students or clients, and is explained in invite-only scripts.
How to publish a script
- Write the script (the first indicator tutorial is a good start) and give it a real title in its
indicator()orstrategy()line. "My script" is refused. - Make sure the console shows the ✓ line: a script that does not compile cannot be published.
- Put it on a chart that shows it well. The library's picture for your script is drawn from the chart you publish from.
- Click Publish script. Keep Publish new script selected and write the description: what the script shows, how to read it and its inputs. It needs at least 20 characters, and the toolbar adds bold, lists, links, a chart snapshot or a symbol such as $XAUUSD.
- Click Continue. Under Final touches, choose Public or Private, and Open, Protected or Invite-only.
- Pick up to 3 categories (Oscillators, Trend analysis, Volume and others) and, under Show more, up to 8 tags.
- Tick the House Rules box and click Publish public script (or Publish private script). The script's page opens in a new tab.
Each account can publish up to 100 scripts.
Updating and removing your scripts
To publish a new version, open the code in the editor, click Publish script and choose Update existing script, then pick the script from your list. The new code replaces the old one and the script keeps its page, boosts and favourites; you can edit the description on the next step. Publishing a new script with the same title as one of yours also updates that one.
To remove a script, open the Community panel, go to My publications and click Unpublish, then confirm. It disappears from the library and from charts that used it.
Good practice for authors
- Say in the description what the script does not do as well as what it does.
- Explain repainting honestly if any part of the script can change past values.
- Do not promise profits or accuracy. Scripts are tools for study, not signals to follow blindly.
- Respect other authors' licences. Publishing someone else's code as your own breaks the House Rules.
Publishing and using community scripts is part of every account, and SuperCharting is currently free to use.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use community scripts?
Anyone can read the public /scripts pages. To add a script to a chart, boost it or publish, sign in; you can create a free account.
Can I see the code of a protected script?
No. Only its author can. You can still add it to your chart and change its inputs.
What happens to my chart if an author unpublishes a script?
The script stops running there, because the library no longer has it. Save a copy of open-source scripts you rely on.
Can I publish a strategy?
Yes. Strategies are published the same way and are marked Strategy in the library. Anyone who adds one gets the Strategy Tester report on their own chart.
