Bar replay free: practise on past charts without a paid plan
Bar replay free in the browser: SuperCharting gives every account Bar Replay on stocks, forex, gold and crypto, with play, step, nine speeds and a date picker.
If you want bar replay for free, SuperCharting includes it for every signed-in account: no paid plan is needed, because the site is currently free to use and every account gets the same features and limits. You can replay NSE and BSE stocks, indices, forex, gold and crypto on any interval the chart can load, step by step or at nine speeds. This page covers what you get, what you do not get, and how to start; the full control-by-control manual is the Bar Replay guide.
Where to get bar replay without paying
Traders searching for "free bar replay" usually find three kinds of option:
- Charting sites with replay inside a plan. TradingView offers Bar Replay, and what each of its plans includes differs; check TradingView's pricing page for the current details rather than relying on summaries elsewhere.
- Desktop practice programs, often paid once and fed with data you import yourself.
- Browser charting sites that include replay in a free account. SuperCharting is one of these.
In SuperCharting, Bar Replay is not locked behind a plan. The account limits are the same for everyone (40,000 bars of history per chart, 16 charts per tab, 50 indicators per chart), and the replay works on whatever history the chart has loaded. The site is free today; the owner may introduce paid plans later, so we say "currently free" and not more. For the wider picture of what a free account includes, see the free TradingView alternative page and the list of Premium-style features you can use free.
What a free account can replay
Markets. Replay runs on the chart in front of you, so any symbol you can chart can be replayed:
- Indian markets (NSE, BSE, MCX, NFO) from the site's Angel One feed or your own broker connection, for example NSE:NIFTY or NSE:RELIANCE.
- Forex and gold from broker feeds, for example EURUSD and XAUUSD.
- Crypto from public exchange data: Binance, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase and KuCoin, for example BINANCE:BTCUSDT or BYBIT:BTCUSDT.P. No exchange account or key is needed to chart them.
Intervals. Minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and custom intervals all replay one bar at a time. Second charts can be replayed too, but they are built from live quotes and keep only a few days of history, so a 10-second replay covers recent sessions only; see second and tick charts. For older intraday practice, use 1-minute or 5-minute charts.
Controls. Select bar (or the arrow next to it for Bar, Date…, First available date and Random bar), Play / pause, Forward for one bar, Replay speed from 10x down to 0.1x (1x is one bar a second and is the default), Jump to real-time chart, and Exit Bar Replay. Shift + R opens and closes it.
What happens to indicators, strategies and alerts
This is where replay tools differ most, so here is exactly what SuperCharting does:
- Indicators are cut at the last revealed bar. Plots, background colours, bar colours, shapes, and lines, boxes and labels drawn by scripts are hidden or clipped beyond that bar, so nothing from the future shows.
- Strategies show their trades on the chart only up to the revealed bar. A trade whose exit has not been reached yet appears as still open.
- Alerts do not fire on replayed bars. Alerts run on the live market on the site's side, not on your replay. A price alert at a level the replay crosses stays silent, and your alerts keep watching live prices while you practise.
- Paper trading fills on live quotes, not replay prices, so you cannot place paper orders against replayed bars.
- Live data keeps arriving. New bars that come in during a session are stored, and Exit Bar Replay brings the full chart back with them.
What it does not do
Being plain about the limits saves you time:
- No tick-by-tick or intrabar replay. The Update interval menu lists 1 tick, 1 second and 1 minute, but choosing them shows a message: replay moves one whole bar of the chart's interval. For finer steps, switch to a smaller interval before you start.
- One chart at a time. Replay runs on the active chart of a layout; the other charts stay live.
- No replay trading account. There is no separate buy and sell panel with a replay balance. Use the long and short position tools from the drawing tools and keep a written log.
- Not on phones. The Replay button is hidden on narrow screens; use a desktop or tablet browser.
- History limit. The replay can only start from bars the chart has loaded, up to 40,000 per chart.
How to use free bar replay in SuperCharting
- Sign up or log in at /signup and open the chart.
- Load a symbol and interval, for example BINANCE:BTCUSDT on 15 minutes. Scroll left to load the weeks you want to practise on.
- Click Replay in the top toolbar, or press Shift + R. The replay toolbar appears under the chart and the cursor is ready to pick a bar.
- Click a starting bar. For an exact time, open the arrow next to Select bar, choose Date…, enter the date and time, and press Select. To avoid days you remember, choose Random bar.
- Leave Replay speed at 1x to begin, then press Play. Press it again to pause, and use Forward to step one bar near a decision.
- Before each decision, mark entry, stop and target with a horizontal line or a long or short position tool.
- Press Exit Bar Replay to return to the live chart.
Example
Practise breakouts on BTCUSDT 15 minutes. Start from a random bar, play at 3x until a range of at least four hours forms, then pause. Draw the range with a rectangle, place a long position tool above it with the stop inside the range at 1.5 times the range's height to the target, and step with Forward until price reaches the target, the stop, or neither by the end of the day. Write the outcome down, then repeat on nine more random days.
How to use replay practice honestly
Replay is a tool for building judgement, not proof that a method works. A few habits keep it useful:
- Decide before the bar, not after. Pause and write the plan first. If you change it once the next bar appears, record that.
- Use Random bar. Picking days you remember turns practice into hindsight.
- Count everything. Losses and skipped trades go in the log, not only the wins.
- Test rules separately. When a setup looks promising, write it as rules and run it in the Strategy Tester, which tests every bar instead of the twenty you chose. Past results do not guarantee future results.
- Then go live on paper. Paper trading uses live prices and real waiting, which replay cannot imitate.

Frequently asked questions
Is bar replay really free on SuperCharting?
Yes, for every signed-in account today. No paid plan is required, and replay has no plan check of its own. The owner may add paid plans later, so it is currently free rather than free forever.
Can I use bar replay for free on crypto?
Yes. Crypto charts from Binance, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase and KuCoin replay like any other chart, on minute, hour and day intervals.
Does free replay work on intraday charts?
Yes. Any loaded interval replays one bar at a time. Second charts work but only cover the few days of quotes the site keeps.
Will my alerts go off during replay?
No. Alerts follow live prices only, so replayed bars never trigger them.
Can I replay on my phone?
Not at present. The Replay button is hidden on phone-width screens; use a desktop or tablet browser.
